Two Tips Tuesday-Storage ~ Part 2

Happy Tuesday Evening Ladies! This post finishes our two-part series on storage of our home textiles. Last week we spoke about using vacuum storage bags and how we should think about the places in our home that we can use for storing these things.

Pillows are a great way to change up a room. If you have neutrals in your space, a pillow can provide a pop of color. If you enjoy decorating for seasons but don’t really want to decorate the whole house (unlike me – LOL!), a seasonal pillow can bring in the feel of that season without much effort.

Tip #1 – minimize storage of pillows, pillows, pillows! When I discovered vacuum storage bags – it was a game changer. It provided a way to store a large amount of pillows in minimal space. But . . . when I discovered pillow covers, that was an even bigger game changer. This opened up a whole new way to store my pillows. Which means more space for my crafting supplies! I’m doing a virtual happy dance – LOL! The butterfly pillow in the pic above is a pillow cover. I can take the inside pillow out and store the cover flat. The ones on the right and left are not. My future plans are to take my pillows that are not covers and convert them into covers by opening the back up and using a simple closure system in the back to slip the pillow inserts in and out. This is definitely a game changer!

The next question would be – where can I purchase pillow covers? The biggest selection I have found is at Ikea. They even have double sided covers! Another place that has beautiful pillow covers is Hobby Lobby (wait for the sale or use 40% off coupon). Also, there are many online stores that have a large assortment of pillow covers to choose from.

Tip #2 – making use of the cloth bags that your bed sheets come in. I needed pillow cases with a print/design on them to go with the solid pillow cases I have on my bed. I really like the Better Homes & Gardens sets in Walmart and so when I was there doing groceries I was checking out their selection and found these. When I saw the covers they came in, another light bulb went off – LOL! I can recycle these covers for something else.

I needed something to hold chalk markers for my craft room that was light enough to hang on a command hook and this was the perfect solution. I used XL bias tape, sewed around to close it and created a loop for hanging.

These bags are a great storage solution for small items. It could even be turned into a little purse for yourself or your daughter with a simple strap sewn on.  There are so many possibilities.

Hope you enjoyed these tips. If you did, please hit the like button and follow my blog to stay up to date. Have a blessed evening.

Romans 4:7

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
